The Chargers, Packers, Panthers, and Browns all have byes this week.

Going into week 7, there are 6 teams on top, in my opinion.  The Patriots and Colts remain undefeated; the Steelers, Jaguars, Cowboys, and Packers have only suffered 1 loss.  On the bottom side, there are 7 in the gutter.  The Rams and Dolphins have yet to win a game, and the Bills, Jets, Bengals, Falcons, and Saints have only won 1.  It gets harder to make picks, I think, because as the season rolls on, teams get better at showing their strengths.  Match-ups tend to become more equalized.  In my opinion.

I like the Lions because I think the Bucs are weak right now.  I think the Titans will play better than the Texans, and the Titans have won 4 of their last 5 match-ups.  The Pats/Dolphins game is a bit scary for me.  Despite the fact that the Dolphins are winless so far, they do like to be giant slayers, and the Pats are a perfect giant for them to slay.  Couple that with the fact that it's a division match-up, and it would seem to make the Dolphins even more hungry - if they could win just one game this season, wouldn't you think this would be the game they'd want?  I do.  I think the Pats will have a bit of a fight on their hands, but I believe they will prevail.  The Dolphins have won 3 of the last 5 matches with the Pats.  I think the Giants have come fairly far this season, and I don't think the 49ers will be a match for them.  I also don't think the suffering Bills will be any match for the visiting Ravens.  I might be wrong though - the Bills just might come out fighting after a bye following their 1 point loss to the Cowboys.  Now, the Falcons/Saints game might be sort of interesting.  Both teams have only won a single game so far this season.  However, I think the Falcons are too disoriented right now to beat even the Saints, who seem to be making an effort to rally especially after beating the Seahawks on the road.  I pick the Saints at home.  Redskins over Cardinals, for a couple of reasons: the Cards are (presumably as of this posting) playing their not-so-experienced 3rd string QB, and they've not beaten the Skins in the last 5 times they've met.  That may change, sure, but I don't think it'll be this week.  Bengals over Jets might prove to be another interesting game, since both these teams also only have a single win.  But I'll take the Bengals at home.  Another close call to me is the Chiefs/Raiders game.  I'll go with the Chiefs though because they too have beaten the Raiders the last 5 times they've met.  Same thing with the Eagles over the Bears.  Plus, I think the Bears are still trying to find themselves.  I'll go with the Seahawks over the Rams, and not just because the Rams are currently winless.  I think the Seahawks don't want to be the team that gets beaten by a winless team 2 weeks in a row.  Cowboys over Vikings.  They're just better.  Steelers over Broncos, again because I think the Steelers are a better team, and the Broncos seem to be spiraling out of control.  They might turn it around this week, but I doubt it.  Colts over Panthers, but I think the Panthers will make the Colts earn it.  I think this one will be within 10 points, partly because I think the Panthers are a decent team, and partly because I think they want to look good on Monday Night Football.

Those are my picks for week 7.  :)

Happy Football!

Go Patriots!

You know, I forgot to mention on your other blog when I left you that TOME that Miami may have figured out how to stop the Pats in years gone by, but we didn't have weaponry like Moss, Welker and Stallworth before. I think that's going to be the new factor in this thing -- receivers that can get open and catch the ball, and make stuff happen down the field.

I think that, with the aging Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas (who may be injured -- you might want to check) the Miami defense is going to be badly exposed.

On the other hand, they HAVE won three of the last five. We'll have to see! (Welker, by the way, used to PLAY for Miami, if you didn't know that already.)
